Does anyone know the weight of the 48” finish mower or bush cutter? I’m wondering if it might be possible to move my 44”, 375 lb. Swisher mower (Swisher Mower & Machine Co.: T-44 Trailmower) to the front on a 425 by fabricating a mount welded to an attachment plate. Has anyone tried moving an offset mower up front?

HA! I'm looking to try the same thing with my 44" swisher finish mower!

I'm willing to bet the PT attachemnts weigh more than the Swisher equivalent...even considering the motor on the swisher.

It should be no problem given the PTs 800# lift capacity. I bought an extra mounting plate with the tractor. Today I picked up a 2" receiver mount and hitch. Also picked up a big swivel wheel/tire assembly for the front of swisher. I think the rigid wheels on the side may cause problems (at least until they'r ripped asunder)--then I'll try something else.

If it works, I'll keep my ear to the ground for a used 60" in the future.

Let me know how it goes for you!

Someone on here posted a web site with a wheel set that looks like it would be a great fit to your mower.

ASC # 40563 Tire Kit

Add a quick attach plate and you have PT mower. It should work well.

I was thinking about doing the something.

My Swisher 44 in mower has a 11 hp Honda on it, with electric start. It is the straight pull model. I just need to build a support bracket for the mower, and put some swivel wheels on the front, and it should work fine.

Has anyone used the hydraulic driven flail mower?

I have the 6 ft flail mower. I had tried it when my PTO was not running good, and it did not work so well. Once I put new hoses on it, I will give it a good test. I have put new blades on it, somewhere around 52. The two blades per chain, one is bent left, and one is bent right. looks like an upside down [ Y }. How it cuts flat, I don't know. It has a large hydraulic motor with three hoses, two for the motor, and a case drain.

I saw a post and pictures where a guy mounted the 60'' MMM for a JD 455 on the front of his JD455.

Why do you want to do that?
I'd rather mount it off to the side so I can mow out over ditches and banks.

Great idea!! I'm fabricating 2" hitch type system. I'll fab up some sort of L bracket to go between the tractor and mower mounts...that way I can mow straight on or add the L bracket to offset it a few feet. Thanks!

I'd been toying with and idea to hang a self powered mower off the side of a tractor to mow out over ditches and banks with.
Later I was reading about front mowers so decided to adapt my idea to enable hanging the mower so you can hang it from the left side, right side or from the front by simply pulling a pin and rotating the mower from one position to another.
Also included in the plan is a 2 wheeled dolly to enable using the mower with any tractor or ATV.
Since the unit would be self powered and have its own dolly no hydraulics would be required so it would work with any tractor.

LBrown59 &Red Zebra please post pictures of the mounts you engineer. I’d like to be able to use the Swisher upfront and retain the ability to offset the Swisher but felt that might be too complicated.
