Just for fun, do you remember your first car?
Mine... (HA, HA,) starting to laugh as I type this:
1972 Dodge Charger with a 318 - V8. It was baby blue with a white vinyl top. Bought it for $250 from my Grandfather who was the third owner. Cousin owned it first, and then sold it to my Aunt and so on...
Well, it had been sitting for awhile with the windows down. There was standing water in the back and it really smelled bad!....
You're not going to believe this.... We put a new battery in and some gas and it started up! We drove it about two hours from Highland Twp. to Lowell and cheered because we made it.
Over that summer I proceeded to apply copius amounts of bondo to areas where it needed (and didn't need it). Added a new door and trunk lid and for some reason thought it would be cool to add mag wheels and hook up some header exhaust pipes to the mix.
Never really had the $$$ for a decent paint job, so I bought about eight cans of primer black and went crazy. Well, from about a 1/4 mile away it looked pretty good!
Deep down inside I knew it wasn't that fast, but pretended that it was. One day I was daring (crazy) enough to get it up to an indicated 120 mph (probably 115 actual) after a long stretch. I could barely keep in on the road and thought the front end would fall apart. I vowed to never try that again.
Long story short, sold it to some migrant workers for 500 bucks about a year later. It's been awhile, but for some dumb reason I miss that old wreck.
