I have a MF 255 with a Buhler FEL. The FEL uses the only set of remotes on the tractor. The place I bought the tractor from says I'll need to have an adapter installed in order to connect another implement to the remotes. This lead me to believe that I can't just disconnect the FEL lines from the remotes. Does this sound right? They look like typical connections but I'm leery of trying to disconnect them without knowing for sure if it's safe or if I'm going to have hyd. fluid running everywhere. I can take a picture of the connection if that will help. Thanks,

Something was done on the cheap.
Normally, aside from power steering, the pump supplies the loader valve.
The loader valve is equipped with a Power Beyond feature which then feeds the 3 pt hitch and rear remotes.

How many hoses are connected to your loader valve? 6 or 7.

After looking on the Farm King web site I need to ask if you control your loader with a joystick or use the remote valves control?

Dave, thanks for the response. I probably wasn't clear in my first post. The FEL is connected to the factory remotes. I'm attaching a picture of the connection. I believe the connections are standard hyd. connections and I should be able to disconnect them just like any other hydraulic connections but I wasn't sure based on what the salesman told me. I think he may have thought that I wanted to use the FEL and another implement at the same time which would require an adapter or additional remotes. Anyway, take a look at the picture and let me know if you think I can disconnect them easily in order to connect a baler. Thanks again. Mark Hyd. Connection.jpg

Connecting the FEL to the remotes is a quick and dirty hack. Normally it's plumbed in before the remotes, leaving the remotes useable for something else.

With that double hose clamp where it is, I don't see how those can be disconnected. It's where the big ring would be that gets pushed back to release the hose connector. Keep us posted on resolution.

That is a standard old ag quick connect.
The biggest problem with disconnecting them to connect another implement to them will be reconnecting them.
They are not the connect under pressure style, the least bit of leakage in your loader valve will put pressure on the fitting when disconnected.

To disconnect those you can reach past the clamp, grasp the hose and pull towards you then pull on the hose.
To connect pull forward on the hose again while pushing your male connector into place.

That method of connecting a loader was quite common, also many tractors that had 2 remotes would be connected to the loader with both remotes and you used the tractor remote controls to operate your loader. Besides which many of the older loaders had a trip bucket which only needed one valve and one set of remotes.

Well, duh! Of course, just not having seen it before that didn't even occur to me. Thanks!

Thanks for the explanation Dave. I suspected that might be the case. At least I can still use another implement Until I can have it adapted. Have a great weekend. Mark

Sorry Lou, I thought that response was from the original post that Dave provided. Thank you for the information.

If the two remotes feed a loader valve then you should be fine disconnecting the quick connects and reconnecting them.

If you are concerned then buy a quick coupler and leave it connected to the IN hose for your loader so any leakage within the valve will just drip out.
Wrap it in a rag to keep the dirt out.

Just leave your loader up enough that if it leaks a little it is not down on the ground when you are trying to bale.
