I am wondering if the couplers for factory remote hydraulics are different than the couplers used for the quick detach loader?I am told by a friend that the remote couplers have a "break away" feature, but I don't really know much about hydraulics,I am pretty sure someone on here will know what the differences are.I don't have remote hydraulics so I can't compare them.I do have four spare female couplers that I bought for something else but never used.Is it possible to use these for remote hydraulics or is there a reason they shouldn't be used?

Some tractors come with the breakaway couplers and some do not. Kubota, I think (but not 100% sure) has all the 40 series tractors with the breakaways, but the std L models do not. :confused3:

I believe that your couplers are actually in a cast iron housing. I think that the 40 series tractors L's and M's are that way. You can always plug one in and then just pull on the hose yourself to find out. You should be able to pull it out. To disconnect, do you push in and then pull out all in one quick motion? If so, those are the breakaway couplers. ;)

That helps to clarify it.........I think  I assume the break away feature has something to do with the implement coming unattached from the tractor when it shouldn't be and the hoses disconnectting rather than ripping apart. If this is what it is,I can see it being important as a safety feature but not necessary from a fuctional point of view.

If you look at the couplers on the loader, they have a sleeve that you slide to disconnect the lines. On the back, the sleeve is mounted in a bracket and the rest of the coupler can move. That makes connecting/disconnecting as easy as pushing the line in, or pulling it out.

My tractor doesn't have remote hydraulics. The spare couplers I have are the same ones as used on the quick detach loader.I bought these for something else but decided not to do that project.I can't return them because I lost the receipt,so I was just wondering if they could be used for something else, such as gearing up remote hydraulics. Thanks for the help.

Short answer, YES. :cool2:

I used standard couplers on mine when I installed a set of rear remotes. One of the advantages of using the breakaway type is that usually the holder for the couplers can be mounted to the tractor fairly easily. With mine I had to gear up a bracket to hold the hose ends and couplers.
