I am guessing that you used item #130 in place of item #100 as I have never seen a rubber hose used for that application. You may have been missing Item #100 and this would have caused you to use #130 (plastic hose) it the wrong place. Then your dealer sold you a second wrong part, maybe your dealer parts guy is not the sharpest tool in the shed. As I would call a differant dealer and get the correct metal tube that has spots for the O-rings.

That would certainly explain a lot! I think part #130 was already included as part of the lever and was already deformed into the shape of the lever, so it looked quite different. I probably had two #130's and no #100, as you said. It also probably didn't help that the extra plastic tube was packaged in a sealed bag along with the two O-rings (separate from the other O-rings). Add in Kubota's lack of detail in the instructions and it seems like a recipe for disaster. I'll definitely get the dealer to get me a new (metal) return pipe. And I think my confidence in him just dropped several notches.

Thanks!!

I would like to see his face when you explain it to him what your looking for, have one of the shop guys that would normally install it come up front and help you educate the parts guy.

Now that you threaded the ports, do you think the o-rings are going to seal tightly? You might be better off with the fix you put on. My .02

Yeah, I'll see how it goes this weekend. I purposely didn't bottom out the tap so that there'd be some smooth metal left inside the hole, but I guess it depends exactly how long the correct return pipe is and how far from the end the O-rings are.

Needless to say, I feel like quite the idiot myself, but at least I don't do this for a living so I have an excuse (kind of).

I recently installed a 2 remote kit on my Kubota L2900.
Powerstroke444e is correct. The plastic tube is a sleeve that goes on the lever shaft. There is definitely a metal pipe for the return.

Did your fix work out?

Sorry I was so delinquent getting back. Yes, my fix worked out okay so I haven't bothered to get the metal return pipe from the dealer yet.

Any concern that the barbed fittings further reduce the i.d., that sounds almost too small for the application?

No, the hole in the valve body that the oil comes through is still quite a bit smaller than the ID of the fittings or pipe.
