I'm still gathering up info for my project to add remotes to my L3400.

I will be considering a BH in the next year or two so I want to ensure that I bear this in mind when I install remotes.

The power beyond port of the loader is going to provide the pressure fluid to my remotes and the power beyond of the remote is going to the hydrauic block where the PB hose of the loader is currently hooked up to. Tank is going to go to the tank.

Where do the hydraulics for a BH plug into this type of a setup? Is there anything specific that I need to do / watch out for when I'm installing remotes so that I don't have to redo things when it comes time to put the BH on?

I would have *guessed* that the BH would simply have three hoses going to it - the PB from the remote or the loader, one for the PB out from the BH to the hydraulic outlet (on its way to the 3PT valve) and one for the return to tank. This could concivably be set up so that the remotes are out of the circut when the BH is hooked up or still in the circuit with their PB feeding the pressure fluid to the BH. I have no clue how correct/incorrect this is as it is just a guess.

The BH should just have two hoses, IN and OUT. You will just plumb them in series with the remote valve so just be sure to add QD's when you add the remote.

Canoetrpr:

If you use the two hose setup for the backhoe (direct coupling to the A and B ports of a remote valve) take care not to open the remote valve in the direction that will send pressurized fluid to the backhoe outlet port. The outlet port on the backhoe valve is intended only to exhaust low pressure fluid from the backhoe back to tank and communicates directly with the o-rings that seal the spools. If you move the remote valve the wrong way, the backhoe may still work (for a moment, although the cylinders will move in a direction opposite from what you expect) because the exhaust port is connected to the cylinders when the backhoe valve is activated, but the pressure is likely to blow out the o-rings and may even crack the backhoe valve case (because the valve case is frequently much thinner around the exhaust port since it is not expected to carry high pressure fluid).

kennyd: Pardon my ignorance here. I am a noob at hydraulics.

The remote will have three hoses going to it: IN (from PB of the loader valve), OUT (used up unpressurized fluid going back to the tank) and PB (pressurized fluid going back into the hydraulic block of the tractor - am assuming this provides pressurized fluid to the 3PT valve - the last valve in series).

Which of these three would the QDs go on so that I can plug the IN and OUT of the backhoe to? I'm assuming IN and OUT to the remote. Does the unused pressurized fluid then flow through the remote valve back to the hydraulic outlet (how does the 3Pt get pressurized fluid?)

Hopefully someone who is more familiar with Kub's will chime in, or you can search old post from MadReferee-he was the man for hydraulics (God rest his soul)...

But it should work like this...

BH off:
PB from loader valve to IN of remote valve
OUT of remote valve to 3PH
"T" port of remote valve to the tank

BH on:
PB from loader valve to IN of remote valve
Out of remote valve to IN of BH valve
Out of BH valve to 3PH
And IF the BH valve has a "T" port, (which I think most do not), to the tank

You can put QD's on the OUT of the remote valve that goes to the 3PH, then the BH can be added "in series" when it's installed.

I dont know if you got the BH yet, but iff you hook it up to remotes, you will be sorry. I have a 313o with a BH90 on it. the hoe plumbs into the tractors pump under the drivers platform. it does NOT COME FROM THE REMOTES! if you did it this way, you would have to hold the remote open in one direction the whole time you use the hoe. there should be an aluminum block that feeds you FEL already. the line that returns from the FEL and goes back to the pump should be taken off and extended all the way to the back and left with just a quick connect. then another hose that would come from the return from the BH would go were the FEL loader hose use to go. Be careful to get the correct hose from the FEL valve and not the return to tank. ANy more questions, just PM me. Mike
