I have a set of remotes on my 5030. I also have the main hydraulic feed lines for the BH90 back there. I am going to be building a rebar bender that will run off of the tractor hydraulics and would like to maintain local-to-the-bender bend control. I was planning on installing a spool valve with detent option at the bender for this. I would rather keep the backhoe connected and use the tractor's remotes. Plans are to use a 3x8 cylinder for this purpose since it was the smallest that my local Northern Tool had in stock. Question: Can I just press the remote lever one way or another from the driver seat and have it stay there (allowing flow) and use the bender-mounted spool valve to control things there or do I have to use the BH90's hydraulic supply for this? I want the use of the bender to be a one-man operation.

The remotes on my L3130 tend to return to center. There is a valve available with a float detent which I believe allows free flow across the ports. You might ask your dealer about this or perhaps someone else will speak up.

I guess you could also use a tether to hold the valve to one side if it were the last one in the stack..

My remotes also return to center. Also when the BH line is not connected back into the tractor, and not connected to the backhoe, I lose the lift of the FEL. Like texbaylea said I think I remember hearing that there were two types of remotes. One that goes back to center and one that does not.

There are two kinds of remotes available for the 5030. I have both kinds. They are both designed to operate a double acting cylinder. They are both spring biased to the center...OFF position. In the center position the cylinder ports are closed....so the cylinder wont move.

One kind of valve has an additional float position... if you push it all the way forward, it will stay there (detent) and the cylinder ports are open, allowing the cylinder to float.

You can tie either kind ov valve in the ON position (either way) to operate external equipment. however you wont be able to use other valves that are downstream such as the 3 point until you put it back to center.
