Removal of Extendahoe piston Ford 655 D

I have a 1993 Ford 655 D and need to have the "extendahoe" piston repacked as it is badly leaking. Any tips/suggestions on how to remove it? Since it is inside the backhoe boom, it looks like a pretty involved job.

i have an '88 Case 580K...repacked mine years ago, along with new hoses...

the Case dealer told me they use a crane to lift the extendable dipper off...

i extended mine...boom straight out and lowered as far as possible...bucket on floor...55 gal drum under front of dipper...disconnected and capped hoses...then drove out of the dipper...

then youre able to get cyl out...

driving back into it is a little harder...just took my time...
