remove primary pto shaft

I've broken the primary pto shaft in my 3930. I've separated the transmission at both ends. the manual I have says that I should be able to pull the shaft out of the rear after I remove the gear and snap rings holding the bearing at the back of the transmission but i'm not able to. it looks like there is a pump impeller, splined onto the front of the pto shaft right behind the front housing (about 1/2" behind the brake) and I think it's binding on it. the shaft wont go back and I can't get the front housing off. I've tried to lightly drive it back with a drift but no luck. it's almost like there's a spring clip there. any ideas will be greatly appreciated, thanks

I've figured out my problem. the pto shaft splines twisted between the pump impeller and the brake. so I've got about an inch of twisted splines on the front side of the impeller that wont go back thru it. 4 bolts hold the pump housing to the back of the front housing, if I could get these bolts out, the front housing would come off and maybe I could cut off the shaft. I don't think I can disassemble the gears with the front cover on. any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks
