Just wanted to get people's take on removing the battery for winter storage. I have a JD X320 and this is the first winter I'll have it. Is it necessary to remove the battery or even just disconnect the leads?

I never remove mine for storage. Have at least 6 different yard tractors and such with batteries, and in 40+ years have not found them not keeping well over winter storage. Some I run during the winter months, but some not. Occasionaly have to charge one up in the spring.

How long is your winter, I used to put my tractor away in early Nov then hit it with the charger once a month. It was an 04 and when I traded it in this summer it was still on the factory battery.
The newX530 won't get off that easy as it will see plowing duty this year, it will have the leads on the battery to quick connect to the 1 amp battery tender when not in use.

trickle charge it monthly, and you'll be great.
