Kubota L47 soon?
I removed the backhoe off my Kubota. The manual says to grease the exposed cylinders while it sits waiting for next use. It doesn't say which grease to use for the cylinders. Should I use the same grease that I put in the pivot zerks or ???
Thanks

I don’t think it matters. You’re only trying to prevent the rods from rusting. I’d probably use the wheel bearing grease that’s in a tub.

I've been told that white lithium won't hurt the seals (and by inference, other greeses can)

Thanks, was not worried about the rods as much as the seals when I start using it again and some of the grease makes it inside.

Dang, now _I'm_ worried. My habit has been to coat exposed rods with LPS3 when the hoe comes off. Clean them off with LPS2 before mounting again.

hmmmm,
Z.

Is it very low quality on the chrome? Have cylinders beeing out in the weather for decades and no rust.

That might be a stretch. Virtually all the unprotected decades old hydraulic rods I’ve seen are rusted.i wouldn’t bother greasing the rods if it was sitting unused for 2 weeks, but if it’s sitting outside long periods it’s probably a good idea. And whenever possible just leave the cylinders retracted.

That would be awesome considering you can get white lithium in a spray from WD40 and other brands. Anyone know if white lithium is definitely ok?

Great thread I’ve wondered the same as I get near to detaching my backhoe for most of the summer while I have my cutter on.

I was told this by someone at a big hydraulic repair shop. Still worth confirming.

I was told the same by a hydraulic shop. They used it to lube the seals for assembling the cylinders.
