Hello,
Going to be digging up some stumps this week and wanted to attach my brotech ripper tooth. I removed the outside pin no problem. However the inside pin is proving to be an issue. Any tricks to removing the bucket pin closest to the tractor? I put the bucket on the ground in float but its still in there tight. I gave it a couple hits with a 3 pounder and a block of wood and it did come out a bit but its seems this should be easier. I have the factory thumb but that seems loose on the pin so it stuck on the bucket.

I change buckets. It should come right out. :confused3:

Have you hit the pin unprotected on the end. If you do it buggers the end up and makes it nearly impossible to remove them. Try driving it out the other way and when you get them out grind a taper on the end.

Thanks for confirming it should come right out. I did not hit the end unprotected, the pin comes out only one way since the other side has the zerk and a large plate on the other side. I guess I will mess with it some more.

Just needed a bigger hammer :) Got the ripper tooth attached no problem. I'll have to play with boom/bucket positions to see if I can take the weight off the bucket more. Once I got the pin half way out I was able to pull it through by hand. I used a hardwood dowel to knock it through.

I didn't have any trouble removing mine when I installed the factory thumb. I did have a hard time getting it back in though. Setting the bucket just right and a heavy hammer were key.

When you pound the pins back in it's best to use something soft between the end of the pin and the hammer otherwise you'll peen and or mushroom the end of the pin and make it a real bugger to change out next time.
I use a block of wood, even a scrap of 2X4 will do ya.
The ahole that installed my backhoe at the distributor did this and I had to grind the end of the pin where it had swelled from being beat into submission. I almost never got the thing out. Some people should not be allowed to be around mechanical stuff.
