Hi everyone, can anyone give me some help on removing the dash on this tractor? Is there a way to remove it or should I try and remove it with the panel that its attached to? I'm trying to remove the steering shaft and box.

Cheers
Daniel

Remove the Steering Wheel. Rent a Puller from a Auto Store if you don't have one. Your need to remove it and the Pittman arm. Then unbolt the 4 bolts and drop it down. May need to loosen the Dash so you can get it by the Trans. Easy to do on the Ym2000. Hoye has a few Video's on Repairing it.

BTDT. The cowl (complete) has to come off to get to the steering box. If it has the dashboard gear shifter, that comes out intact with the cowl assembly.

As Carey said, buy or rent a puller to get the steering wheel off. Getting the Pitman arm off the steering box was more than I had tools for so I took it to a machine shop that had a bigger puller. You can't hammer or tug on the Pitman arm, that busts up the internals.

Here's a thread I posted when I did mine. I asked all the dumb questions so reading this first might save you some confusion. :D

And a single related post.

Yanmar186d I see you have a backhoe on your 186d. What model is it? Capacity? If I could find one similar for my 186d I wouldn't need my larger YM240.

Hi California, I'm in Australia and there were a few company's that made the hoe and front end loaders for these small tractors down here, I can't find any ID for the loader or the hoe nor any specs so I can't tell you much. I brought the tractor last year and have never used it and I'm currently giving it a good going over, fully rebuilt the hoe in terms of new pins and bushes, repairs to some cracks, new stabiliser arms, new seals in the cylinders, etc. I have built a new bucket for the loader and need to do some crack repairs on the loader frame too. Re sealing front axle, steering box, engine hoses radiator flash, etc etc.

I'm building a new house soon and will be doing a lot of the work myself so this little tractor will come in handy and I hope it will be capable of digging a trench and moving building materials around with out too much dramas.

I was a bit worried buying the yanmar as there are not many here and the kubota tractors seem more popular down here but I'm glad I brought it, parts have been easy to get from hoye so that's been great and this forum is fantastic for info and help too.

Cheers
Danny
