I have narrowed down to my clutch being an issue (works fine until it gets hot and then will disengage and not engage again until cool). i have taken my mower deck off and unpluged the clutch. when i put the socket on the bolt on bottom of PTO it just turns the drive shaft going to the to gear box. can i safely just put a pry bar in the drive shaft to keep it from turning and break the bolt loose in the clutch? i didnt want to wrench it to hard in fear of breaking something expensive.

thanks for the input.

Mike..

ok, so i was able to get it off. put a screw driver through the drive shaft u-joint area to stop it and hamered on the socket to get it loose.

tested the clutch and it works off the battery, but need to still check the clearance to see if thats the issue.

for any ones future searches, i checked the clearance on the clutch based on some other info i had found on line and adjusted the clutch a bit and reinstalled. works great now. just need to replace the seat safety switch now.
