Removing PTO Push Button Lock

Does anyone here know how to remove the push button lock that's located on a bush hog PTO coupler? I think it gets pushed in to remove and it is supposed to automatically click in when the PTO shaft hits the groove on the tractor's splined shaft. My brother's needs to be replaced and he can't figure out how to remove it. So far, a hammer isn't getting it done.

That sounds like a Eurocarden PTO shaft (I've got two of them).
I've never taken the pin out, but I'd be looking for a snap ring holding the pin and spring in place.
I'm hoping this PTO shaft isn't stuck on a tractor...it'll make life a lot easier if you can put it on a workbench with good light.
I couldn't find a specific assembly manual for the Eurocarden shafts, but some implement manuals (Land Pride, for one) show the parts breakdown.

There doesn't appear to be too much to it...basically just a pin and spring. If nothings actually broken, maybe just disassembly, cleaning and lubrication will fix it. I have had my RFM's shaft pin seize up. I used a drift pin and hammer to break it loose (was on the tractor). Little lubrication (spray on grease) and never had another problem with it.

That pin is a PIA - I have to work with the one that is on my RC as it likes to stick. Several shot of WD40 (let it soak in), a few taps from my hammer, and A little verbal persuasion does the trick every time

Thanks for the reply Roy. I'll ask if he's looked closely for a snap ring. I've never tried tried to remove one either and figured someone here would have some ideas.

He replied with the following information. I'll pass along the WD-40 tip as well:

I didnt see a snap ring.. but, havent shined a flashlight down in there... it has a small small hole on the back side of the pushbutton.. that a #2 phillips will just fit in.. no way to get pliers in there to compress a snapring.. I dont know.. it looks so simple... the yoke is a Weasler 35... made for Howse heavy 10' bushhog...

The pin is flat and needs to be replaced. The pin is only 3 dollars, so that's the motivation for removing and replacing it.

Navigate to the Maintenance link. There are a number of .pdf files that can be viewed. I looked at a few, but didn't see the pin removal.

Also, is he buying the pin from Weasler or Howse? If Howse, I'd call them.
