Guys,
Thanks for all your help.
R Neumann, you are correct in that the fittings either end are zerk fittings. (I didnt know what they were called before)
Anyway, we now have the wheel off that improved access and after a bit of a struggle got the fitting out of that end of the ram and its exactly as you described.
Im in a quandary, We cant remove the fitting from the other end of the ram so im thinking that Ill just take the ram apart in situ and get the new seals an bits placed on it once the rod is out. Trouble is, I have removed the circlip, and nothing wants to move, I dont want to turn what seems to be a large metal washer thats next as I might break something important.
So......... How do I remove the rod from the ram, leaving the tube in place.

All,
If you are able to have a look at the attached photo, you will see where i am with this.
The exploded diagrams are slightly different but you will see that the front seal has been removed. Thats the one that was leaking.
I really dont know where to go from here, I would have thought that the rod would just pull out from the ram. Am i missing something?

Thanks Everyone for your help.
SUCCESS.
I pushed the ram back in and removed the round keyring style clip from the inside of the cylinder body and everything fell out.
So we are away.

Define “SUCCESS”......I thought you were going to say it’s all back together and no more leaks ;)

Thanks R Neumann,
One step at a time defines success here. I know i can put it back together. I have to take it to Lae tomorrow for repair and we will see how we go.
Thanks for the advice.
