It doesn't work!
So I thought I had removed all these small trees in an area surrounded by three larger trees. I wanted to clear the area so I dug these small trees out with my FEL. This worked great. I then went to drag the area with my Landpride Box Blade and wham! I ran over a 9" stump that was buried under the dirt. So, after I was stopped in my tracks by this small stump, I decided that I would back up and drag it out with the scraper. It had to be there for years right? Probably rotten right? Bad call. This forced the box blade to pull upwards in the rear and bent the hitch braces:eek:. I will call Landpride in the morning and order 2 new braces. I'll take a picture tomorrow so everyone can see what a knucklehead move gets you.
I am learning the limits of my tractor. These machines are so awesome that you start to think they can do anything at anytime. If I had my backhoe attachment, I would have done it properly. But I learned that different tractor attachments were made for a reason. A box blade is made to scrape. Great tool when used properly. I really do love this tractor and now
i can explain to my wife the importance in getting my new backhoe ASAP!

i snagged a big tree root with my blade one day and it actually bent one of the tractors lift arms. this was a 50hp tractor.. the blade is a homemade super heavy duty beast.

Hitting an immovable object, especially at speed, is NOT a fun experience. I still have a bit more cold hammering and re-welding to do to finish fixing my back blade from hooking a boulder plowing this winter.

I feel all of this pain as I have hooked my ROBB on all of these things, plus a few stumps ~ 2' - 3' in the air as I was using the ROBB for ballast while clearing trees. Fortunately I have only bent the two outboard scarifiers a bit and they are still usable.

Snapped the cutting edge of my rear blade in half while pushing snow backward this winter. It was buried just under the surface of the dirt, plus a couple inches of snow. You would think at lower speeds the tires would lose traction when you make contact with an immovable object...at least that's what I kept mumbling to myself. It's a cheap, old blade that will only ever plow snow, but now requires some attention and modifications prior to next winter. Made a **** of a sound when it broke!

You can never be too safe or cautious on a tractor. There's always something lurking underneath you!

I was clearing dirt out of a hole with my box blade and wasn't paying attention to how deep I was getting. Going in forward and reverse. Previous times as I had backed through and started up the other side the blade had raised the 3 point and just floated real nice taking material up the side. Couple more passes and it caught in the bottom of the hole in reverse rather than pushing the 3 point up. Bent the steel at both pins and twisted the "A-frame" portion that connects the two lower pins to the top link. I contacted the company for new "a-frame" pieces and straightened the steel at the pins, added a bit of re-enforcement to bring the strength back up and tied in some bracing to add a 2" receiver to the top of the blade.

This was the result:
