Removing Woods bushhog blades

This weekend I removed and sharpened the blades on my Woods DS96 8' cutter. Had some time, so I shot some video and tried to put together a how-to. It's not rocket science but interesting how Woods designed the blade attachment. I'm not sure its any easier than the typical big bolt and nut on most cutters.

This bad boy is the answer to stubborn nuts when removing the blades from your rotary cutter.

I don't usually give tools a nickname but I call this bad boy the persuader.

Now, that was much more entertaining, Eric. Yup, same blade attachment. Looks like the BB720 has better access and bigger shims. Next time, I think I'm going to dremel a bit off my shims. I don't know why the hole tolerances are so tight. I found if I could just get them on the edge of the pin, I could tap the pin down so the shim would slide off pretty easy. The left side of my DS96 only had one shim per blade, but the right side had two per blade.

I'm in agreement: i don't think the shims need to be that tight. I suspect they are not that tight when new and peen themselves until the pin cannot pass through.

Video wise, i try to keep them entertaining even when i'm obviously floundering. :laughing:
