I recently removed the rear fender section and footrest section from my X728 to repair the deck height adjuster. Now in hindsight it occurs to me that I may have been able to just remove the footrest section to do the job.

My question - Has anyone removed the footrest section alone without first removing the rear fender section? Can it be done without scratching up the paint?

TIA, Mike.

I want to add that removing the body parts from this machine was a lot easier than I thought it would be and only had to remove about ten fasteners (nuts and bolts). It's really the way to go if you have to work underneath and I think it's even worth doing once in a while just to clean things up good. You can easily put it back together in about a half hour.

Mike.
