Been thinking for sometime and was wondering about how much compact tractor rent or lease for? About larger tractors?

Would like to hear your ideas on how you see the business.

Rates vary a lot by size and condition but it seems the 30-40hp CUTs are running $50-100 a day around here. That's memory from two years ago so could be off a fair bit. Skidsteers run quite a bit more, $200-300/day depending on size, and attachments on top of that.

I see it as a difficult business unless you own and operate a tractor dealer or repair shop. Many customers will need delivery and pickup so you'll need a large truck, 10k or larger trailer, CDL and commercial liability insurance for the whole set. Rental customers are likely to work stuff hard, maybe abuse it, and half won't really know what they're doing anyway. I would expect accelerated wear and high maintenance needs.

Also depends a lot on your market. When construction was booming everywhere I imagine it was easy to rent stuff out. Now, who will be renting, and how much will they be willing to pay?

Robert, you might want to look at your local Craigslist ads and see what the going rate is in your area.........just a suggestion.

good link - a lot of rental sites I've seen did not post prices - but to cut to the chase and answer the OP, from that link:
Tractors (continued) DAY WEEK MONTH
Kubota B21T/L ------ $150.00 $600.00 $1800.00
Kubota L39T/L ------ $230.00 $920.00 $2760.00
Kubota BT1000 Backhoe (w/ L-39T/L) ------ $290.00 $1160.00 $3480.00
Mustang Skid Steer Loader ------ $170.00 $680.00 $2040.00

So it looks like my present dream machine, an L39TLB, which goes for about $40K, would cost about $500/DAY, $2K/Week, or $5K+ per month to rent, not counting transport.

This is the incentive.

/edit - actually looking at machinery trader there's an L39 w/BH renting for $400/week in Florida and one for $780/week in PA, so when I quote the cost to SWMBO it'll be about $2K/week.

B21's rent for around $200 a day + 10% damage + insurance + delivery around here. Those are approximate.

Dont know if id ever want to rent out my machine. Having seen and fixed the results of lease/rental on equipment sometimes its not pretty.

I'm pretty sure you're reading that wrong. They mean the tractor is included with the backhoe for that price. Don't add the two lines together. I've rented from them before. They are pretty inexpensive for rentals - hoping you'll turn around and buy from them I think.

I thought that was odd, but their terminology threw me off.
