I want to rent a skid steer with a "forestry cutter" attachment to clean up some places on my land. Does anyone know a ballpark price for renting one for a weekend? Also I have a place where I had some pines cut off and was wondering if it would mulch up the stumps sticking out of the ground?
Thanks,
Brandon

When I looked, it was about $500 a day out of bowling Green KY. No idea where you are at though, you may want to fill in some profile info to get better information.

I had to hunt to find one, finally found one at the CAT place.

I'm in Panama City, FL. I haven't seen one, but I haven't looked either. Last time I rented a JD 160 excavator I didn't see one on that lot. Like you said I may have to search around. Thats a lot higher than I thought. ****, I can get a JD 450 dozier for 1200 a week with a root rake.

The real benefit of using a forestry cutting head is for the mulching capability, so you don't have to deal with burning or hauling off debris. You don't get that capability with a dozer w/ root rake. The mulching head should also take care of grinding up stumps too. You'll just need to get a large enough machine with high flow hyd. to run a good size mulching head. I'd make sure they give you a good set of sharp teeth on the cutter head if you rent one.
