and lifted up.

Actually, the title should have been HOW to repair a step.

Any suggestions? you can see how smooth the concrete is under the smooth flagstone.

I just cringe at the thought of people walking on it and it flipping up on them.

My father in law just had one hip replaced... just what I need to happen to him /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

We currently have a large plant sitting there to keep everyone off.

Any suggestions other than superglue?

I fear it not getting good adheasion so I was thinking about drilling some holes & mounting some screws into the STEP. That way, when I put more concrete down, the screws will act like a spike or something that might (?) give the concrete something more to hang on to. (after taking out the concrete that's already there)

My un-educated response would be epoxy. You would still want to grout (seal) around the stone. We all know how water seems to get wherever it wants.

Liquid nails makes a Landscape Block, Stone & Timber
Adhesive (LN-905) that should hold it in place.

Oh, yeah, Liquid Nails (I'd suggest PL500) polyurethane construction adhesive. Clean off the loose stuff, wet it down, apply, and wait.

You'll have to break the rock to remove it.

They use that stuff for the top row of blocks on walls. I've glued 2x4s to a concrete floor and lifted piece of the slab up when I tried to remove the 2x4 /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

You could also use some thinset or simular morter. Apply with a 1/8" V notch trowel, should be enough.

I'd go with the liquid nails concrete. My parents had the same problem with their woodstove base and I reset the bricks using the liquid nails concrete. It did take about 2 weeks to fully cure (I guess do to the amount that I used to make the mortar joint) but once it did, it wasn't coming back off.
Good luck

With a good ceramic tile adhesive, it's possible to fix tiles straight on top of existing, tiled walls. Make sure it's for external use and frost proof.
