Repair of a step (concrete/rock)

   / Repair of a step (concrete/rock) #11
I like the idea of liquid nail. I have some concrete that has cracked away from my step. I also have heard of using some concrete set or brick morder to repair small problems. I like to use concrete with sand in it as a quick fix. There are no rocks that show through. And a trawel goes through it okay.

Use a good Masonry adhesive....make sure the concrete and stone are clean and lay down several beads and smooth it out to make a bed of adhesive. Put a good sealer along the edges of the flagstone before laying it in and lay in the bed of adhesive. Then you can put more sealer around the edges and smooth (you want to keep out water and dirt). While its wet you can put down some stone dust to match your mortar joints....Let it dry and sweep the excess off the next day. I wouldn't actually walk on it for at least 4 to 5 days especially being on an edge like it is.
If you have any other places on your walk that are cracking or where water can get in....just fill it with sealer and smooth and use the stone dust to match...This will keep the water out and prevent your stones from coming loose. I dunno how cold it gets where you live ...but here in Ohio if any water gets under stones like that and it freezes...it just pops em out. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
