Gents,
I've busted off all the teeth on my 18" backhoe bucket trying to dig thru rock (rock won)
All the teeth broke off even with the bucket edge leaving me with the double thickness of bucket + tooth.
I'm looking for replacement teeth from Tractor Supply or Northern to weld on.
Anyone have experience with this type repair?
Rgds,

What kind of backhoe?

The first time I bought bkt teeth, I went to my tractor dealer and bought
some weld-on tooth holders, and crimp-on teeth to match. I think many
dealers have bins of teeth and holders you can buy and install. Esp if it
is a dealer that also handles industrial machinery, like dedicated backhoes.
There are also pin-on teeth and holders available, or you can tack-weld
the teeth to the holder of choice.

Tim,

I found some small bolt-on teeth and holders on the shelves at my local JD dealer pretty cheap. I bought them for a toothbar that I haven't made, but they'd probably work well on your bucket, and they'd likely hold up better than the PT ones.

I think the PT teeth are just sawed from a length of the cutting edge that they use on bigger buckets. I think it's pretty much mild steel. I think somebody here said that the tiller tines are the same material.

You might do best to torch off most of the extra thickness, then grind to fit.

Thanks for the suggestions. Been occupied with other projects recently. Some successful and some not.
Right now the teeth are on the back burner while I attend a wedding for #1 daughter and work on other projects.
I'll know where to go when it's time to repair the BH.

Congrats on the wedding!

I just heard an amusing story on the Bob & Tom show this morning. A comedian was telling how he wanted to ask his future wife to marry him and he wanted her parents' blessing before asking her. So, he goes to her dad and tells him of his intentions. The dad gets all somber and says "I was going to buy a boat."

Many times in our lives we come across things that take top priority. My wife and I got married, bought a house, paid it off quick, bought some land, paid it off quick, were about to build a new home and had a baby instead. We were just about to build 3 years later and we moved to a larger house instead. Then 2 years later we had another baby. Then day care, private school, sports, private high school, the economy tanked, my job is shaky, not to mention several used cars, a tractor and trailer, now college is coming up for the oldest.... life, like the weather, keeps changing. No regrets. Two great kids, warm paid for home, good food and close family is all that counts. The rest is gravy. :licking:
