Anyone ever replace fuel shut down cable on a 1925 NH ? Do you take panels off side that has key switch ? Or do you go thru panel at fuse holder ? Advise is WELCOME !

I don't have a '25.. but am wondering.. can you not just follow your old cable to see how it is run?

Also.. does the 25 not have the same 'key off' system as the 20 series did? If so.. are you talking about the wire to the fuel shutoff solenoid instead? ( there is a good pictoral on changing that solenoid posted by jinman here inthe forum ).

post back with your details..

No shut down soleniod, cable pull acts as choke/to starve fuel. Pull knob fastens to panel w/lock nut on opposite side to hold in place. I was wondering what panels have to come off to gain access to rear of panel. Pull knob is located below start switch aprx 6-8".

I'm really surprised the 1925 has the pull-to-kill system. My old 5000 has that...

I stopped by the local dealer while in town today and looked over a couple 25 series machines he had. Wow.. still can't figure out why they had pull-2-kill pumps.. In any case.. they look pretty straight forward to get at behind the front cowling just past the dash. I doub't you will have a problem R&R ing it if you can turn a wrench..

On al older tractor I found similar stripped nuts holding cowling together, and cowling to dash. I ended up having to split the nuts with a hacksaw blade to get them buggers out.

Good luck.. post back on your progress ( or lack therof ).

I have a 1725 and it is similar, you have to break apart the two cowl pieces, they are bolted together in the middle, then you loosen the cable at the engine and then the nut from the pull knob. Kind of a pain, these things tend to get stickey and then you have to replace them. cables aren't too expensive but unbolting everything to get them out is kind of a pain.

My 1925 I drilled through that center cowl and it (the center cowl) is held on with nuts and bolts now.

I found bolts holding cowl together stripped,so I took bolts out from firewall and took cowl off in one piece.Decided to drill bolts out in case switch or cable goes haywire later, put back together with bolt and lock nut.Overall not a bad job, you just have to perform an autopsy on tractor to get to.Noticed after getting cable in place you had to pull knob out about 3" to shut fuel off.So I pulled lever down on fuel pump to shorten distance on pull knob.Shuts down pulling knob about 1". Found it a good time to adjust friction plate on throttle control. Many thanks for advise !
