:eek:I have to replace the 2nd and third tooth sections on my First Choice sickle bar. I have removed the blade bar and the tooth bar. The third tooth section will be easy - drill out the old rivets, replace the section and install a new section with new rivets. The second section is mounted in the area where the connecting shoe and pivot is also mounted. The shoe is mounted with 5 heavy rivits. It appears that I have to remove these and take the shoe off in order to relace the 2nd tooth section. I am hoping there is an easier way. If there is please enlighten me. If I have to remove the shoe and the large rivets will I be able to reattach the shoe and flare new rivets with just a hammer?
Thanks very much.

Edit: I just took a wire brush to the back of the piece. I guess I paniced to soon. It looks like all I need is longer rivets to go through both the bar and the shoe. I couldn't see the bottom of those rivets before

When replacing the mower sections you can just put the blade in a vice so the section is pointing down and is loose in the vice and the rod can't slip through the vice. Hit the back of the section and the rivits will pop. There is a punch with a cone shaped end on it that helps some.

Ed, That sounds easy compared to the drill. I assume you mean with it loose in the vice as you describe that I should drive the section straight down as if to shear the rivets ?? Thanks, I will try it.
Right now I am trying to find where I can get some of those longer 5mm X 22mm countersunk head solid rivets. Probably 7/32 X 7/8 would work but can't find them local either. I have plenty of the short ones.

Yes you have it, you will need a punch to drive them out. I would think that any farm equip. dealer would have the long ones, any make, but I have been wrong before.
