Agco ST30x
The manual for my Agco calls for AGCO Powerlube Multiguard SAE 15W-40, or equivalent to meet or exceed API CC or MIL-L-46152. The local guy who had it retired and closed down. He told me I should always use the AGCO product. Its a hassle, as I have to order it on line, pay shipping etc. I want to know if anyone thinks I could get a proper equivalent @ Walmart, and what that would be. Thanks.

Don't know about your local store, but our WalMarts sell Mobil, Delo and Rotella.

Typically, a few choices of each as well. 10w-30, 15w-40, 5w-40.

I don't believe you can do better than those. Afterall, tractor companies don't own oil wells, refineries, or oil packaging centers. They just contract with one of the major oil companies to re-label.

I agree, the oem oil is nothing special. I don't why tractor owners feel the must only use oem branded oils but as long as it meets the spec's then its fine to use. The only reason the oem's sell oil is to make more money and the low bidder is the one who gets the oem oil supplier contract.

Better off supporting a local business over a Walmart. Try you locally owned parts store. If not looking for synthetic, price the dealer too.

No Wal Mart for me either. I run Schaeffer 7000 Supreme 15-40 in my Cummins and Deere. American company (St Louis) with American sales folks. And they know oil.

I realize this may sound out of the ordinary, but due to little use of my AC 180 before I lost it to a fire, I put Amsoil 15-40 syn diesel oil in it. It's expensive, and I used the recommended filter. It went three years before I changed it, and the tractor never sat outside.

The brand isn't important. Match the API classification and the SAE viscosity grade specified by the OEM and you're good to go. All the rest is marketing hype.
