Anyone know if the small shutoff valves typically located under the gravity-feed fuel tanks of lawn tractors, tillers, snowblowers and the like are pretty generic/universal? I need to replace one on an old Troy-Bilt tiller (the 'wing nut' just spins in place). I've found one site selling a 'universal' unit for 1/8" NPT tank threads and 1/4" fuel line that sounds about right but I didn't know if there were a lot of hidden variants. Any recommendations for a gasoline-compatible thread sealing compound to use on the tank threads?

Thanks
Tim

timb,

I can't imagine that there would be much difference. As long as the flow rate (inputs/outputs) are the same as the one you have it should do the job.
