I must change a hydro cylinder out on my L2880 tractor.
Must I use Kubota brand hydro oil, or can I use an other brand oil?
What is the real deal with hydro oil?

You can use whatever brand you like as long as it meets Kubota spec.

Look at the spec sheet or product container. It should say it meets and or exceeds whatever type of fluid you need, ie. UDT or SUDT.

And stuff like "Premium" Tractor Hyd. fluid sold at big name stores only meets Kubotas Super UDT formula spec.s.

As a rule, if its gear or shutttle your okay with UDT. If its a hydro pony up for SUDT, its worth the cost difference.

Ooops, I meant Premium Tractor juice only meets UDT and not super UDT (SUDT). Sorry.

It is gear shift. I have Universal hydro fluid for the log splitter etc.
I'm just thinking of any difference in weight.
Looking at he kubota web site:

Kubota Tractor USA - Lubricants Schedule

It says use: ISO 32, ISO 46, or ISO 68
ISO 32 or ISO 46 ISO 68 for colder temps
ISO 68 for warmer temps.
