Replacing 15W40 with syn 5W40 issues on old/high hour engine?

Also, I can only speculate on the sludge, but that 2 cylinder really does run mint.

I'd stay with the 15w-40, but that's just me.

Yep. Whatever oil it has been using has been good for that many hours so why change now?
