I need to change and replace my axel fluid but was told it needs a special pump to install it. Is this correct and if so is there a work around? Doesn稚 make sense they壇 make it this complicated. It痴 been 300 hours since my last thorough servicing so I知 doing the oil, transmission, etc. Thanks!

Do you mean front axle or hydro transmission fluid? Either way, no pump should be needed.

I agree with Fiziks, typically an MF front axle on the scuts and small compacts made by Iseki - are gravity drained and gravity filled. Now on my MF GC1715 the front axle has 2 fill points - one on each side of the axle - and the fluid supply is connected between the two fill areas - so if you "fill fast" - it may start coming out the other side. I found have both fill points open keeps air from getting caught in the middle - so I fill from one side and give it a couple minutes to work its way to level in the reservoir - then fill some more. Don't know if the 1531 is like that or not.

But when draining the fluid - I let it sit quite a while so I could get any flecks or particles out. Also summer is a great time for fluid changes - as the fluids are very flowable :)

We usually buy tractor fluid in 5 gallon buckets. They make lever operated bucket pumps that fit where the lid goes on a 5 gallon bucket. That may be the pump you were told you needed. They are very convenient but certainly not a necessity

Ymarianne,

There is some loss of communication. Are you referring to your front axle or your rear axle/hydro area?

The rear will take multiple gallons to change the fluid. Typically on smaller compacts your 1533 the front axle would be a couple gallons.

Massey AGCO hydraulic fluid now comes in Permatran with a number like 821 XL etc. And you can get it in 1 gallon, 2.5 gallon and 5 gallon jugs or barrel size also. Adding some is much different than changing it. Better answers come with better information.
