replacing fluid in front axle of a kubota L3130

my manual states 6.5 litres but the axle does not hold this amount. I have a filler opening on the top left side, one over flow opening about half way up the axle on the left side and two lower openings to drain the old fluid ,one on each side. I have tried by putting 5 litres into the top opening and before installing the remaining 1.5 litres I opened the over flow bolt just to see if any fluid would come out and to my surprise I lost 2 litres. Can anyone explain what is going on and what I can do about it? Thanks in advance.

I bet you are missing a drain. My 4x4 tractor has 3 drains. One on the center pumpkin and two more out near each wheel. My guess is you are missing draining the middle one on the pumpkin.

There's a drain in each hub and a drain for the axle. Did you get 6.5 liters out?

My Yanmar took a long time for the fluid to settle. I filled it, went away, etc. Repeat until done.

What type of fluid? and at what Temp.? It takes time to get into all the nooks and crannies... Run it around and check it again... My front axle was 1.5 qts low from the dealer and there were a couple others who had it lower then that...
