Blew a hose this past weekend and lost some fluid. Just wondering what everyone replaces with. Manuel says tansmission fluid but local napa dealer gave me heavy duty hydraulic/transmission fluid. Anyone got any thoughts on this. Would you use it or not. Again manuel says Shell; DONAX-TD, or TM, Mobil fluid 350, or Exxon Torque Fluid 56. Just wondering.

UTF, universal tractor fluid for the reservoir from which the leak occured. I bought mine at NAPA and it was made by valvoline.

Yes, you should use hydrualic fluid. I use Warren AW68 in mine. Make sure it had antifoaming agents and most any universal fluid will do.

You need a Trans/hydro fluid.
What you have is proper.

Keep in mind that the recommended fluids are not the same tranmission fluid you may be thinking about. Yes, they are those, but they're also considered hydraulic fluid. There isn't a lot of difference, viscosity being one of them.

As we said though, you can use any good UTF with antifoaming agents. Some of the recommended fluids are rather hard to find for some folks.

Did the hose just go, or did something interesting precipitate it? You know we love to hear details! LOL

Thanks to all who replied. Good solid info. "John" the hose just went. Small amounts of fluid lost but enough to let me know to fix it before I tried to do any more work. $40.00 for hose and fittins and one gal of fluid. Back to "katrina" clean up.

I did 2 1/2 years of public service with the VA in Biloxi and Gulfport. I am deeply saddened to know how much destruction has happened over there, and I hope you make out alright. I guess you're further away than Biloxi, right?

Almost everything I knew and loved in Biloxi is destroyed.

Good luck.

Thanks "JOHN"

Yes I'm 100 mi north but damage is beyond dreams. MS and LA will be "years" cleaning this up. You can't belive the amount of timber that has been lost. You won't see this on the news but Bay Saint Louis and Waveland Miss no longer exist. This was an area of 25000 people who have nothing. Mulit-million dollar beach front homes with just a slab left. And this is the exact same location Camille hit. But oh well we will make it in due time.

I'm 100 mi north of coast and we were without basic services ie power, water, for 14 days. Telephone 80 days. Cell service 45 days (towers blew down).

oh yes new season in 30 Days. can't wait? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

JoeF,

I'm from NO, went to school at Southeastern & have family and friends scattered all over there. When i see pic's from your area it physically hurts. I'm stuck in S. Fla for 5 more months and 21 days....just about the exact 'cane season. So far we have got the babys......if a Camille or better hit's, things will be utter ruin. Like you i can't wait /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
