New holland 3930
I have not yet replaced the hydro filter yet on my 3930 (bought it used, previous owner had changed).

Can someone tell me what is involved in doing this. Do you loose much fluid when changing? Is this fluid under pressure when tractor is cold? Do I need to add more fluid? I would assume the answer is yes since some fluid is lost inside filter itself. Any other helpful hints appreciated.

Thanks

Do it cold, have a pail underneath, have the filter oiled and ready, a rag, and move fast. Maybe a couple of ounces at most but you probably needed to top off anyway.

A check valve in the filter head closes as you remove the filter. If you stop with the filter half off, you will drain the reservior. As stated, move quickly and lose about a quart or a little more.
