I have a LandPride PD25 PHD. I bent the tractor part of the PTO shaft for it. I call up the dealer and they want $350(!) for a new shaft.

The implement side looks like a pretty standard deal with the round bore with a hole through it for a bolt. I have not managed to get it off the input shaft of the gearbox though... it is stuck on there pretty good and I got no leverage to pull it off. I also don't want to damage the gearbox.

Since it is just a problem with the tractor side, is there any chance I will be able to find another shaft with the same profile? Then I wouldn't have to even mess with the implement side. I could just buy a new shaft and just use the tractor half. It's a weird profile shaft, it is not a square tube and not even a symmetrical shape (it is similar all around but slightly different in one corner so it only goes together one way). I believe it's some kind of Eurocardin shaft. About 30" minimum length. Is this a common thing I could mail order? How do I know what to order? I got the landpride part number but that won't help me find a reasonably priced version of it. If I could get one for, say $150 or even $200 I could live with that. $350 is just crazy for what it is.

Oh cool... I hadn't noticed that PDF that CCM has on their site. All those shafts have a cross-section that looks just like mine... so I guess that is a pretty standard deal then? I know I saw cat 3 somewhere on the shaft when I was looking at it. I'll have to get out the micrometer to double check against this PDF, but it sounds like if I order a cat 3 shaft it should just mate with the good half I already have... that would be great. Then I wouldn't have to worry about getting the implement end off.

Am I missing something... JD 990 is a Cat. 1 (NOT Cat. 3) Cat. 3 PTO is very large (and heavy). Is there another thing called a Cat 3 on PTO shafts?

ON EDIT: I looked up the part manual and it does refer to Cat.3??? see photo...

Thanks em14 - thought I was going crazy there...

Yes you are talking about the std. for a 3 point hitch sizes. If you will look at the left side of the PDF chart he is talking about, you will see the "categoria" he is talking about ... his is Categoria 3 .... this of course is referring to cat for PTO shafts ...
