My b670 backhoe for my Kubota b7100 has developed a leak between the relief valve section and the section next to it. Is it possible to loosen the sections and replace just the o-rings between those two sections that are leaking? Is it that 'simple'?

I looked up the 'repair kit' listed in the parts manual and they want $78 per section! The kit includes some seals that go on the spool etc but that is not what is leaking and I don't really want to take everything apart. I am hoping I can just match up the o-rings with some new ones and be on my way. Thoughts?

No reason you can't simply match the o-rings that seal the valve sections and end covers, leaving the spool seals alone. But you would be wise to replace ALL of them the first time.

Be sure and find out the correct torque for the sections, too tioght and valves will bind. I think you can replace just o-rings and be fine, just do all in a section, not just the ones that look bad.

Be sure that they're 'O' rings an not quad (square cut). As Rick said, for the price you'd be wise to replace them all once you've loosened the valve sections.....Mike

Thanks guys, the manual has the correct torque and torque procedure so I am good there. I probably won't tackle this until later this fall/winter when I am for sure done with the hoe. Right now it is not bad enough I can't just keep the oil topped off until I am done digging. Here is keeping my fingers crosses I get a few more hours of digging out of it to finish this project ;)

Make sure you remove the valve assy to do a complete flush and clean...especially between the valve sections.....if you were to have so much as a single grain of sand between, the valves will warp under torque-up.....possibly rendering a few sections junk......don't go there.....:thumbdown:

so three words of advice......clean, Clean.....CLEAN....:2cents:

As far as matching up seals.....easier to match up on valves made in USA but not as easy on the import stuff

Thanks for the heads up. It is leaking worse than I thought so I will probably have to tear into it sooner rather than later :(

Yes you should be able to replace the o rings between the slices only. As a tip use a thin film of petroleum jelly (vaseline) to keep rings in place whilst you reassemble and torque up the slices.
