JD790
I recently noticed drips of hydraulic fluid coming from the weep holes in the bottom of the brake housings (both sides) on my JD 790. I've ordered the seals but am curious if any other 790 owners have had experience replacing them. I'm assuming that they are a press-in seal (see #19 in attached parts diagram), but would like to know for sure before I pull the brake drum to get at them.

I've purchased a technical manual on CD, but it won't be here until next week. Hoping that the TBN crowd can offer some pointers.

Thanks,
~Kevin

As a follow-up, I did not have to pay the $90 that Deere wants for the technical manuals on CD. I paid $10 on eBay and would encourage others to do the same. The $90 price from JD represents an obscenely high markup for something that many other manufacturers offer as a free download. (I have a 30hp Yanmar engine in my boat for which I was able to download the entire shop manual in PDF format.) Doesn't JD make enough on the parts already, without having to charge such a steep fee for the manual?

Who offers a free 'tech' manual ?

I was able to download the entire Yanmar GM & HM Workshop Manual in PDF format (for the auxilary diesel in my boat).

Quite frequently I find online manuals for equipment that I need to work on. Admittedly, they are more commonly available for things like electrical equipment or software as opposed to mechanical items like automobiles and tractors.

John Deere publishes its operations manuals and parts catalogs online. Why not do the same for the technical manuals? Converting a document to a PDF is simple and quick and the file could be placed on the server and made available in the same way that the operations manual is. What could be the down side?

But, of course, that was just a side note to my original question about insights into replacing seals on the brake drum shaft . . .
