Tonight I picked up a used 90 inch LandPride finish mower for my NH TC31. I thought it would be a little large, but I wanted something large. My thought was that on a busy weekend, using the scag and the finish mower my wife and I can mow our 5 acres, in about an hour. (Currently it take about 2 hours and 15 minutes to mow my five acres. Not that bad)

The mower is huge, it barely fit on the 6X12 trailer I rented. Once I got it home, I quickly checked everything and hooked it on the tractor. This was my first time mounting a PTO shaft so it took me a little while. (Is there a trick to this, I had to tap the shaft with a hammer to get it push onto the tractor. Couldn't move it by hand.)

I was surprised to find out that my TC31 had no issues at all lifting the mower. I did have my bucket on but overall everything seemed stable. I had no issues at all mowing and my grass was about 8 inches.

You did grease both sides of the PTO connection, correct?...

And you did push the pin all the way down or pull the collar all the way back, correct?

Wow that's a monster finish mower. How does it cut and did you have any trouble with scalping?? I used to have a 72" which did fine until my double crossing buddy wanted it back. Now I have a 60" to cut about 2 acres of lawn and I am really happier with the smaller one.

Let us hear about the big one.

I bought a 84 inch Landpride finish mower last year from a client of mine. It had three flat tires and the blades were pretty much worn out, but for $600, I coulnd't say no. It's turned out to be my favorite implement and I look forward to mowing with it.

I bought new blade from Kubota, who are all Landpride dealers, for $55 each. Two bolts hold in each blade, which were really easy to change.

The flat tires cost $10 each to fix, but were a constant problem for me. They all went flat again, one at a time. I even put tubes in them, but it's either a problem with pnumatic tires on finish mowers, or the tires were just bad. I decided to replace them with solid tires from Landpride. The cost $77 each. I also had to buy larger 3/4 bolts for the axle, a 3/4" drill bit, 3/4" bushing and washers to get a good fit for anohter $100. Over $400 to upgrade to solid tires!!!!!

My tractor is 35 hp and it has plenty of power to pull the mower. My 6 foot rotary cutter takes more power then the 7 foot finish mower.

If you go to the Landpride website, it's called a Grooming Mower by them.

Congrats,
Eddie

My wife and I are helping the neighbor mow their field. They just got the property and do not have the equipment to cut the field. The field is clear of debris and sablings and is just tall grass. (Walked the field several times over the years and yesterday.) This morning my wife cut a few acres of the field while I worked on other items.

I know a bush cutter would be much better for this but we haven't had any issues at all cutting the high grass. We are staying well away from the tree lines and we and the neighbor are scouting the fields before we mow. In total I have about 10 acres of this to mow and the little NH is having no issues with the 90" mower.

Wow! I didn't even know they made a 90 inch side discharge mower. Amazing it can move all that grass out the chute.

Looks like the wife is having fun.

I hate to question you, but from looking at the picture of your mower from the back, it's hard to believe that it's 90 inches wide. Are you sure of it's size? My 84 inch mower, which I am sure of because I've bought replacement blades for it, sticks out over a foot past both of my rear tires. It's out there a good distance, and yours just doesn't appear to be as wide.

You have me doubting myself but it is a 90 inch. (AT3590) In the picture the chute is up you can barely make out out the left side edge of the mower. Sorry

Better picture showing the the rear from this weekend. The black part of the deck just covers the spindles and not the entire deck.
