Hi guys,
I have a project that I want to do - make a cab on an open station tractor. To do what I want will get in the way of the present fuel tank which is situated right in front of the steering wheel, under the hood and on top of the engine.
What I am thinking of doing is replacing the fuel tank with another that I could put behind the seat of the tractor, placed between the two rear fenders on a substantial shelf arrangement. This would be an improvement and could be constructed to allow fueling up from outside the cab. I figured the tank would hold about 5 or 6 gallons and be a rectangular box shape. I guess heavy plastic would work - as would a metal one. RV water tanks sizes might work need to look into it a bit.
Being up higher (an extra foot or so) would give better supply to the fuel transfer pump. Would be easy to plumb and install.
Has anyone out there done this at all - if you have, how did it work out and what did you use for a tank ?
Would appreciate hearing all opinions - pros and cons.
See photograph below for positioning of the tanks.
Thanks in advance.
