Residental Grass Cutting Rates

This is directed at those of you in the lawn business. What would be a reasonable rate for cutting 3/4 of an acre of residential lawn.

How much more if it about 1/4 of it is 3 feet deep, and the rest of it is about 6" deep.

No trimming needed, just cut. There are about 20 trees to go around. The lot is fairly level, but the ground is very uneven (3 MPH is probably the top speed you can mow this at w/o killing your spine).

rates will vary greatly from one area to the next, you have to estimate the time it will take and decide what your time is worth, don't forget overhead expenses in determining your worth. A rule I've always heard for mowing is $1 per minute curb time, that is, from the time you pull up till the time you're reloaded and pulling away.

It sounds like it needs to be bush hogged first being that tall. Is this a one time thing? If it is a one time thing I would be charging at least $60/hr.

Previous posters are right on... figure $60/hr. for onsight time to do the job.

I'd charge $200 to do it. I wouldn't bother with it for less, and charging more would probably cause the owner to look elseware for somebody cheaper.

Thanks for the input. I quoted $100. I put 1.4 hours on the G1800 (100 minutes) plus about 20 minutes pre-walking it. The property is across the street from me. If it was a resident, I'd consider doing it once as a favor, but the owner is a house flipper trying to do things on the cheap. He has been pushing-mowing it weekly (about a 4 hour job), but had been away for two weeks, and had people coming to look, and his mower died. My wife thought $100 was high, but the owner gladly paid it. He had someone there to look at the house about an hour after I was done.
