restored my Bolens trailer today

Yesterday, i went to one of the neighbors and he had this trailer in his scrap pile. I asked how much he'd sell it for and he said $20. Next thing i knew, i had it in the back of the truck and brought it home.:thumbsup::laughing: Looked it over and decided, I can restore that. So tpday the project begins..

edit: the tires in the back did not come with it and yes they were mine but since i dont need the wheel barrow tires, i gave them to my grandpa.

I started by removing the wheels and using some naval jelly to remove the rust. I used paint remover to reclaim the Bolens decals which had been covered in the dark green paint. One of the decals was in great shape along with the one with the manufacturing information. I removed the grease and dirt from the rims and they looked a lot better.

Next, I had to patch a hole where rush had eaten through the metal. took some tims since the metal is so thin. I covered the decals with masking tape and laid out paper on the pavement to prevent me from painting the concrete. I primed and painted the trailer and rims. The trailer is Case IH red which was the closest i could get at the hardware store. The painted rims looked pretty slick. :thumbsup: While i waited for the paint to dry, i used the wire brush to clean up the washers that soace out the wherels and painted them as well. I painted 6 of them black and 2 red.

After the paint dried, i reasembled the trailer and removed the masking tape from the decals. You can see what i painted the 2 washers red for, they match the paint better and make the trailer look better IMO. Now, my project is done! :thumbsup:
