Unless you have a reaaallllllllllllllly old battery with a wooden case, this is a old myth.

There are quite a few "smart" chargers out there that can bring back a dead battery as well as de-sulfate a sulfated battery. I have a Genius Charger that I have had very good success with.

Unless you have a bunch of batteries to restore, it seems like a waste to do it to just one battery. It's faster and easier to pull it and have tested. If it only has 2 years on it should have some type of warranty left on it. Also if you have ever seen a battery explode, you might think twice.
