We have a Cub Cadet 50" Zero Turn mower ( RZT 50) that is now about 3 years old. Everything works great including the terrific Kawasaki 22HP engine except for the left side transmission.
Last week we went to use it and the left side transmission would not propel the machine forward, made a bunch of horrible noises and started smoking. We figured that that's not a good sign.
So now we have to decide whether or not to put a thousand dollars (for a new transmission and labor) into a machine that would probably at best only sell for about $1,500. Even if we did replace the tranny, I would sure hate to have the right side blow out as soon as we get mowing again in the spring.
My questions are...
1. Does anyone know of a GOOD transmission we could retrofit into both sides of our mower that would be durable and require only minor alterations?
2. Does anyone know how we would go about parting this one out so other folks could make their machines work again?
Thanks!
PS - This is a GREAT site. I'm glad I found it.
