For those of you that have re-wired older tractors, did you go back to the dealer for the factory wire harness? Or did you just run new wires in wire loom? What wire loom, plastic or mesh? Pros, cons? I'm trying to get the lights to work on my Massey Ferguson 150. The wiring inside the fenders has rattled around over the years and worn the insulation off the wire and now only one light works. No electrical issues other than the lights. I'm very tempted to cut the wires below the switch and run bulk wire making up my own connections and covering the whole thing with mesh loom.

I just googled Massey Ferguson 150 wiring harness and it looks like Steiner and Yesterdays tractor has them available. I have a 135 with flattop fenders and used three wire coated trailer wire for my lights. used one wire for the floods and rear, one for the spots and used the white for a ground so I don' have to get ground through mounting surfaces and bolts. Tied on to the existing wire harness on top the differential with wire nuts. Another project left unfinished:laughing:

G'day I would just run your own wiring with appropriate fuses and switching

I used the plastic split loom on my re-wire job, put some black electrical tape on every foot or so to make sure it stayed closed. 4 years later and she's still good, tractor stays outside always.

Having rewired everything from caterpillars to old muscle cars to belly dump trailers, I've found that both spiral and split loom provide good results. However, when replacement harnesses are available, they are often my preferred method of repair. just my two cents worth. Good luck.
