Ok, something strange is going on at home. About 2 months ago our tv remote quit working. I disected the thing and couldn' find anything obviously wrong, so i pitched it and ordered a new on online(it's a tv/vcr/dvd combo Toshiba) because the all in one types didn't work on that tv. So i get the new genuine toshiba remote and fire it up and all is good. Weeellll, a month goes by an yep, the new one quits working /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif. It apparently is also fried but looks fine inside and out. Soooo, i start pondering this and after clashing a few gears in my feeble mind this is what i came up with: back in Oct we got an Air Card for the laptop so i could use it at work on the road. I remember sitting infront of the tv while using the laptop and having both the the remotes right next to the air card before they quit working. So, here is the question for you electronics guru's: can the rf signal/frequency band of an air card burn out the output of a tv remote??? Nothing else makes sense /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
Anyway....it's the little things that get to us sometimes /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Guess i get to order another remote.........{sigh}

Does the remote operate using infrared or RF signal? If it's infrared, there could be a light in the room that is causing problems. I used to have a problem with sun light coming through the skylights and interfering the infrared signal.

I am wireless and using 802.11g and haven't had any issues with any remote controlled appliances.

We have a wireless g network, and occasionally an an older 'B' network up.. all our phones are spread spectrum, as well as a few other rf devices, including a ham rig. None of my remotes are affected. Again.. is your remote rf or IR?

SG, you know i have no idea, i thought they were all IR. Eeeeelectrnoics are not my bag. My laptop sometimes can really get the blood pressure up, especially when it is something stupid(99.9% of the time) /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
