- International 1066 Full sized JCB Loader/Backhoe and a John Deere 430 to mow with
We now have two big tractors...both International's, one is an 886 and the other is a 986 (with cab)
We're going to give them both a workout and keep the preferred unit & sell the other. I do not know their HP nor if the HP is the same on both units. The 986 has physically larger rear tires & a cab so I presume it MIGHT have higher HP.
I cut a large field with my Scotts riding mower and it takes about 2 hours, full throttle, full speed to do it. It wears me out.
I'd love to get a RFM for said field, that will not only cut my time down, but I MIGHT be able to raise the blades and actually cut a larger area with this unit.
I've attached 2 pics to give a basic idea of the field (I don't know how large it is in acres or fractions thereof)
In the second picture I'm standing at one end of it and on the far end, just past the grapes & blueberry bushes (sticking out from the left going down the hill) you can see the grass change color. That line is "about" where I cut using my rider, actually not quite that far but for a field this size on a 46" cut, you start to get the idea.
Wife want's the field kept looking nice, it BRUTALIZES me to cut it on our rider, who's front wheel keeps coming off because the bounce knockes the "C-clip" off the washer that keeps it on...
So, I want to get a finish mower for the field you see and MAYBE cut more of what is visible in the background, using the rotary cutter for the other fields that are not in view.
Is that tractor too big? Am I screwed? I don't want to buy yet another tractor to cut this field. The current International(s) will be used for the 10' rotary cutter for the rest of the farm.
As for boxblade, I have a gravel road to maintain. Just curious as to thoughts on what kind of width to get. The tractors have the LONG rear axel to carry duals on back. Only have single tires so the spindle actually catches trees every now & then as I drive past (don't ask how I know
)
Should I set the wheel width and THEN figure out boxblade or get one to cover current width? We've discussed moving wheels out wider.
