I've been trying to get my rfm set backup. I haven't used it all summer.. but me and my neighbors RFM the rear wheels doesn't come off the ground. I tried adjusting the top link and nothing.. I also have one that has the bottom that has a lot of slack and a sub-assembly the floats but has a lot of laterial movement any pictures of anyone's rfm raised up?

Mine has been binding up and making some wild noises as the u-joint binded and the frame was binding up on some hills.

There should be a "U" shaped bracket (on the RFM) with two holes in it to accept the upper link pin. For transport (raised), you made have to put the upper link pin through the bracket hole closest to the pivot pin (of the bracket), then shorten your link until it's pretty tight (don't use a wrench..just your hand).
This may not be the hole you need to use during mowing operations, but it only takes a minute or so to adjust the upper link to switch holes. I use the (bracket) hole that gives me the most "swing" when I mow. This is because I have enough slopes and crest the tops of those slopes often enough to require as much free up/down movement as I can get.

Transport, especially over distances, is another matter. You don't want that RFM swinging too much when you're transporting more then across your drive, for example.

As far as the lateral sway, you should have links or turnbuckles on your lower links to adjust this. If you've a manual with your tractor, this will be explained more clearly in the manual. If you've not read the manual, read it. If you don't have a manual, I suggest you try to get one for your machine.

Since your tractor is a "grey market", manuals may not be readily available. If this is the case, adjust your turnbuckles (or links) until they're pretty snug in the raised position. They'll loosen a bit when you lower your mower, but not enough to cause you any problems.

You really don't want that mower moving about too much as it is a fair amount of weight back there.

mine is a curtis aka a maschio

It has a wild bottom setup you might be able to see in the small picture.. i'll take a better picture of but i think it's for like i match or other rigid 3pt's it allows about 3" eather way wider or shorter. It realy moves around. I seen the maschio's don't have that so that maybe where the side/side is coming in at the swaybars are tight but the mower can slide about 2" on the pins side to side as it's a sliding pin that connects to the 3pt arm if you can see the picture..

How does that landpride lower hitch does it have alot of slack side to side where the pins slide in?

Thanks for posting..and helping me out.. Ended up on mine i hadn't moved the top link on the tractor to the bottom hole i was using the subsoiler/tiller to plant some trees and forgot to swap it out. Now i can go tell my neighbor his 790? deere needs some work too.. maybe his problem as well.
