Rhino 172 pto drive shaft is shot

Just purchased a used Rhino 172, 6’ wide rotary cutter for my tractor. It worked on the sellers tractor but when i got it home, the driftshaft connection spring was off and it will not expand or contract.

It has Comer T40 4004 on it.

Is this an easily replaceable part? Other suggestions? It is my first rotary cutter

Do you have both halves of the pto shaft? Can they adjust (slide) for length? Will the one end attach to the tractor's pto shaft?

It will not expand (or contract). I have the entire thing.

If it would expand, I could “try” to pull the spring back if it’d slide in the spline.

With that said. I would prefer to fix it so it is in proper working order. Don’t need it ruining the tractor or anything like that.
