Rhino Gear Box Lube?

While doing a PM on my Rhino rotary, I noticed the gear box contained grease. I was expecting to see heavy gear lube. Is this the norm for bush hogs? The grease was also about 1-2 inches below the check plug. Should I top it off?
It's is new with only about 10 hrs of use.

Grease does have to expand and release heat so filling it to the top would only hold the heat in and prematurely break down the properties of the grease.

This is especially true if the transmission isn't vented. Heat causes expansion, excessive expansion causes premature oil/grease seal failure.

The Grease you need is EP-00. Do not use cotton spindle or corn head grease unless it has the EP additive. The EP grease is available in 3 grades 0-00-000. You can mix them and any of the 3 would be fine for your cutter. If you can not find this grease go to a Snapper lawn mower dealer. The rear engine riders use EP-00 in their transmission. You can purchase it from a Snapper dealer by the quart.

ive also heard 00 is about the consistency as (axle) grease and 80-90wt gear oil mixed 1:1
