Here's some pics showing the beginning of the tear down and rebuild I'm in the process of doing on my rear blade. It's a pretty old Rhino LR 500 as near as I can tell. I found the parts manual on-line and measured all the bolts as I tore them off. I'm replacing all the hardware and I'm going to sand blast it and paint it. Kioti Orange of course!
It has some rough spots but amazingly everything is there and it works perfect. I've been using it for the last two years, first with my Kubota GL21 and now with my CK 30. It's a beast and really gives the 30 HP engine a workout when it's fully loaded.
This all started last weekend when I was using it at a friends place and he kept getting on me about one of the pins used to hook to the 3 pt. It was loose and made tilting the blade a little difficult. So when I got it home I cut both pins off and replaced them. I figured while I had it off and in repair mode I would go ahead and inspect everything. Once I got the only zerk on it functioning properly and I noticed how much better it pivoted I started poking around and hopped online and found the parts manual. From there it was a slippery slope. I've spent the last two nights tearing it apart. Now I'm hunting for hardware and paint. Don't let anyone tell you doing your own maintenance is cheap! It does need the attention though. The guy I got it from believes everything is throw-away. Between this blade and the Woods finish mower I got off him I figure I'm about $2k ahead of the game. He had no further use for them and was letting them sit around the back of the barn to rust away.
I'm going to contact Rhino to see if I can get the decal kit to finish it off. Anyone have suggestions for plow bolts? I haven't searched yet but I thought I would ask here since it seems someone on this forum has done everything once or twice.
The only thing I'm going to add to it is the skid shoes. Other than that I see no reason to change anything. If my buddy (10 minutes away) wasn't getting a box blade I'd be adding the side plates too but I won't be needing them now. Besides, I think the box blade will do what I want better anyway.
Pay no mmind to the cluttered, filthy, unorganized garage (thank you wife and children!
